Optional items for proposals

It would be great to have the possibility in proposals to mark some items as optional. You can see item, an "optional status" and the price but it is not applied to the final result.

Mostly I have to deal with single items that are optional. As a photographer lets say the item is 'usage rights for third parties'. My client has a budget for an event and has to check with their boss first if that optional item is something they are willing to afford regardless of the main items that I have in my proposal. I guess it is a bit similar to the package idea. I would like to see the package and catalogue idea, but for me it could be a checkbox next to the item that puts the item price into parentheses, displays an 'optional' above the item (or not - i could still write 'optional' in the item name or description) and leaves the amount out of the final sum.

Victor That makes sense, thanks for explaining and helping me better understand the motivation behind the request :)

I like this suggestion and I would find it useful myself. This is a bit similar to the ability to offer multiple packages (package a, package b, package c) in the same proposal. What would you think about something like that?

This would make a lot of sense indeed. "Packages" and "optional positions" and "optional packages"
